But he also knew if he really didn’t hurry Diluc would leave on whatever ridiculous schedule he got himself on today. So, he managed to get dressed quickly in something casual and easy before heading on over to Diluc’s that was all of a two second walk or so.
He was yawning even as he knocked.]
I still don’t get why you think it’ll take you that long to find a place to stay overnight.
[Diluc opens the door to let Kaeya in and immediately retreats back to the kitchen, where the smell of seasoned eggs and frying steak is concentrated around the stove.]
I'm not sure if this is going to be too much for you so I'll explain it slowly. It's going to take me over five hours to get there, so I expect to arrive in the early afternoon. [He pauses a moment to flip the steak.]
I don't know the area that well, so I'll need to find somewhere that isn't entirely disreputable and leave my things there, then get ready and get to work at five, until beyond midnight. I don't want to have to rush.
[Kaeya rolled his eyes behind Diluc for that comment. But he sat at the table and rested his chin in his hand while he listened. He glanced at the clock as well and huffed only slightly.]
If you leave right after breakfast, it would still be morning when you get there but fine. Whatever you say.
[He still thought it was a bit overkill. Wasn't there going to be some morning rush as well with all the people leaving to go to work and stuff too? Not he figured a lot of people went to Tokyo and vice versa to work but still.]

[Sometimes a favour can be worth more than actual payment, depending on whom owes said favour. Diluc doesn't mind having one of his employers owe him for something, because he already has a plan of exactly how he's going to use it. The dandelion wine is going to have to make a start somewhere, after all, isn't it?
He casts a quick glance Kaeya's way and then moves to pull down two plates and glasses.]
I have orange juice, if that's fine. Otherwise it's water or tea.

[Kaeya could already see it. It was the second time Diluc mentioned it. It stood to reason that Diluc was already formulating what he wanted out of it and likely when to cash in on it. Smart man.]
[He picks up his knife and fork and digs in to his breakfast, not waiting on ceremony for Kaeya to decide he wants to begin. Diluc is far more than simply a passable cook, so he knows the food will be good.]
Don't worry. When I have some ready, you'll be the first to know.
[He chuckled, taking his own bite of the food and humming in delight. Diluc was always an excellent cook, due in more part to Adelinde he was certain. They always did bug her to learn to cook.]
I had thought it was too soon for the wine to be ready. I'm glad to hear that though.
[And not just because it was wine. As uneasy as this truce was, there were some things Kaeya was always going to enjoy. He just hadn't gotten to experience even simply having breakfast with him in several years.]
Mm. I'm still trying to source some of the ingredients.
[He falls silent for a minute while he eats, then slows thoughtfully and sits back in his chair as he swallows a mouthful of food.]
It's funny... I never cared to involve myself much in the day to day of the winery, yet now I'm here... [Diluc trails off, then shakes his head and sits up straight again.]
Maybe, but it's not like you have a whole staff either. It makes sense.
[It wasn't like Kaeya had been any better. For all the time he spent at the winery, there wasn't much he knew about running one. He knew some just by osmosis but he knew he likely would not have been successful at all had he been there to run things while Diluc was gone.
Honestly, the staff was just that good.]
For what it's worth, I'm sure it'll come out great.
[Diluc really did owe the smooth running of the winery in his abscence to Elzer, without whom the place would have certainly fallen while the Ragnvindr heir was gone. It was only thinks to him and Jean that Diluc was able to keep himself mostly set apart from the day to day running of the winery to focus on the intelligence network he had been part of since his return.
And to focus on the protection of Mondstadt.
He smiles faintly, not looking up.]
